a couple of mooshes

In Kaiser's words

How can I write this without sounding too corny?

It all started – of all the places in the universe and internet – on livejournal, when Asma accidentally found my journal through the chambana community. She left a comment; I chatted with her a few days later and instantly liked her.

It wasn't until a few weeks later, when we were both on campus, that we met for the first time. We watched people on bikes pulling other people in red wagons around the quad, and walked around and talked. (No surprise, I was fairly quiet.)

Unfortunately, she was sort of dating another guy, so I was left feeling crushed. They eventually broke up, and I thought maybe now I had a chance.

I'll leave out the details of miscommunications, and how we were both painfully shy, and how much grief that caused each of us. But on a cold November 8 night, almost exactly two incredibly long months since our first meeting, we were out on the quad, looking up at a lunar eclipse that both Andrew and Dan told me about.

I suggested that we stay close to each other, to keep warmer. After a few minutes of staring at the moon with our hands around each other's backs, I asked if it was ok to kiss her. ‘Why wouldn't it be?’ was her answer.

So I gave her three little kisses. And here we are 18 months later.
